"Yes WE can respond with Integrity"

Research and Development: EmercoReiki®

Complementary medicine can extend the orthodox Emergency Response “Golden Hour” and can provide a “window” to assist the “Scoop and Run” approach in urban areas.

In rural areas, where technical support is limited, it can provide a simple “hands-on” technique to ease pain, balance energy and provide a healing buffer until traditional medicine is available.

Background:

Complementary medicine, as we would call it in the west, has been in use for centuries in many parts of the world.

The Greek  Medicine of Asclepios and Hippocrates  followers used “alternative therapy” techniques from circa 500BC to as late as 400AD. The Roman Centurions used these emergency response techniques on the battlefield as did the Knights Templars.

Ayurvedic Medicine is also an ancient system of health care that is native to the Indian subcontinent. It is presently in daily use by millions of people in India, Nepal, Sri Lanka and indirectly through it being the major influence on Unani, Chinese and Tibetan Medicine, in China, Tibet, and Pakistan.

Chinese Medicine is one of the great herbal systems of the world, with an unbroken tradition going back to the 3rd century BC. Yet throughout its history it has continually developed in response to changing clinical conditions, and has been sustained by research into every aspect of its use. This process continues today with the development of modern medical diagnostic techniques and knowledge.

Chinese medicine includes all oriental traditions emerging from Southeast Asia that have their origins in China. Practitioners may work within a tradition that comes from Japan, Vietnam, Taiwan or Korea. It is a complete medical system that is capable of treating a very wide range of conditions. It includes herbal therapy, acupuncture, dietary therapy, and exercises in breathing and movement (tai chi and qi gong). Some or several of these may be employed in the course of treatment

Reiki  (ray-key) is a natural healing technique that feels like a flow of a high frequency of energy into and through a practitioner, and out the hands into another person.

Our hypothesis is that Reiki can be an additional hollistic technique for use in Emergency Response trauma situations and can be effectively used by:

  • Fire fighters
  • Ambulance crews
  • Police
  • Mountain Rescue
  • Lifeboat Crews
  • Military Personnel

EmercoReiki® - similar to acupuncture/Shiatsu (finger pressure) it works on balancing the energy centres of patients by circulating energy to ease pain – including mental and emotional stress. On a physical level it assists the immune system response and enhances recovery time.

The simplest way to think of it is like water flowing through a body, energy pathways are “un-kinked” to assist the flow and ease the tension maximizing energy efficiency and peak flow for healing.

Remote energy points can be found in the body – in particular the feet and hands. This is how Reflexology works. For example this can allow complementary EmercoReik to be used whilst traditional resuscitation is being performed in the upper part of the body.

This is a technique that once trained in, requires no specialist equipment to be carried and is available 24/7.

The training involves Usui Reiki 2 techniques, and Tibetan internal power techniques of Master Wei Chi (smilar to martial arts Nei Gung training with a medical focus).

It requires 3 months practice in Reiki 2 before commencement, a 2 day basic trainiing course followed by a further 3 month period with assessments.

Note:  this is a holistic comlimenary technique and is not a replacement or substiute for professional emergency response medical care. If in any doubt a fully trained medical practitioner should be consulted before commencement of this technique.
